Prevent · Catch · Fight

The price a broker quotes and the price they keep are two different numbers.

Pilotso is the margin bodyguard for small LTL brokerages, the shops that price pallet freight. It prices the reclass risk before you book, audits every carrier invoice against the quote, and drafts the dispute that wins the overbill back. The first piece, the free check, is live today.

Flagged twice. Carriers often bill furniture at Class 175 no matter what the density says. And 8.3 sits just above the Class 100 line at 8.0: a reweigh that finds a little less pushes it below the line, into costlier Class 125. Either surprise lands on the invoice unless it is priced in now.

The leak

Every reclass you don't catch comes straight out of the margin.

Carrier invoices come back higher than the quote often enough to hurt. The deltas are big, they arrive daily, and the window to fight them expires fast. Small brokers eat them because catching each one by hand costs more than the error.

Why now

The biggest change to freight classification in about 90 years just landed.

In July 2025 the NMFTA reclassified more than 2,000 commodity codes and moved LTL onto a 13-tier density-based scale, the largest overhaul since the classification system began in the 1930s. Every commodity's class is in flux, carrier reweighs and reclasses spike through the transition, and small brokers are repricing blind. A steady leak became an acute one, on a deadline.

~90 yrs

since a change to freight classing this size. The people who priced around the old rules are relearning the new ones right now.

10 – 12 lbs/ft³Class 92.5

Lighter freight rides a costlier class. Sit near a line and one re-measurement moves the price.

The loop

One system for the margin: before, during, and after the invoice.

Audit tools fight the invoice after it lands. Pilotso runs the full loop, because the cheapest error is the one that never happens. Here is exactly what's shipped and what's in build.

01 · Prevent

Flag the reclass before you book

Run the freight through Pilotso at quote time. It checks the density-based class and warns where a carrier is likely to reclass, so you price it right instead of finding out on the invoice.

02 · Catch

Audit every invoice overnight

Pilotso compares each carrier invoice to your quote across class, weight, and accessorials, then lists the overbills in a morning inbox. Every invoice gets read, not spot-checked.

In build. It trains on real broker invoices next.

03 · Fight

Win the dispute, on paper

For every flag it drafts the dispute with the evidence: the quote, the reweigh gap, the missing certificate. You approve and file inside the carrier's window. The margin comes back.

The same class engine drafts the letter.

The moat

Why a broker who starts can't easily leave.

The wedge is a free tool. The business is what accumulates behind it once a broker runs their freight through Pilotso every day.

Judgment, not parsing

LTL disputes turn on class tables, density math, and tariff rules. Anyone can read a PDF; almost nobody can cheaply tell a broker this reclass is beatable and here is the letter. AI reads the paperwork, deterministic class math makes the call.

Owned state

Every audited invoice deposits memory the broker can't take elsewhere: carrier scorecards, margin truth per customer, which shippers understate weight, plus their catalog and templates. Leaving means walking away from all of it.

The corpus

Across every broker, the deposits compound into a proprietary record of real freight pricing and dispute outcomes, a benchmark no tool at small-brokerage prices holds today. That record is the long-horizon asset.
